Humorous, sarcastic and sometimes critial, the works of Robert Matzke reflect everyday situations and experiences. They come encoded on the way, metaphorically, as a simple joke - they almost always appear bizarre or even grotesque.

If you look closely, you can vaguely guess the graffiti background of the artist, who today feels more affiliated with low-brow art and pop surrealism. In Matzke's work, techniques and materials flow into each other and in places convey an unfinished, raw impression.  His compositions appear accidental, snapshots without a camera, on the trail of the fleeting moment.
